One Direction’s sell out Brisbane concert at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre was huge. 1D Fans were hunting down scalpers, asking for free tickets and trying to get in to the concert, some very emotional scenes. The photograph of the crowd shot at the beginning of slideshow is of just the merchandising counters prior to the concert. It was very much a promotional concert, there were no fancy stage sets, just a big screen with clips and One Direction out front; the girls didn’t even notice or care, 1D were there singing and that is what they came to see. The screaming cheers were incredible, the audience sounded twice the size as it actually was.

The support acts were The Justice Crew and Johnny Ruffo. The Justice Crew were great, pulling off some great dance moves, really warming up the crowd. Johnny Ruffo only sung one original song and the rest were covers, and what is with the Stars and Stripes jacket? Isn’t he Australian? We did ask a few punters about that, there were some comments that we won’t repeat here. He was even called “Just Filler” by one concert goer. For the Ruffo fans, he did sing well and put on a good  show and the fans who could get tickets loved it and screamed accordingly.

We  found  a group of One Direction fans sitting outside the venue; we saw six that were huddled around a mobile phone on speaker, one of their friends had got a ticket inside and was broadcasting the concert for them. Isn’t it great to have good friends…

The One Direction camp have said they didn’t expect Australia to be so huge or they would have used a bigger venue, the Boondal Entertainment Centre. They said to fans not to worry, One Direction will be back to Australia on a world tour next year with more shows, bigger venues and of course more tickets for the fans.

Engagement Photography Wedding Pre-shoot – Shorncliffe / Sandgate

Here are the photographs from an engagement photography shoot at Sandgate / shorncliffe pier in Brisbane. We took some great images on the day and even ran into another Xpose’ Bride. The  pier has been closed for repairs, due to being hit by debris from the Brisbane Floods and wild weather. We snuck under a fence barrier to take the pix, the guys fishing at the end of the jetty had lifted the fence up. Just as we got up to leave the local police were walking towards the pier, we were totally busted. I admitted doing the wrong thing to an unimpressed female senior constable,  I was very polite, and I didn’t get fined. The guys at the end of the jetty got a way bigger lecture and dressing down I am sure. Enjoy the pictures, didn’t get any of the police, they may not have liked that.

Twilight Photography for Real Estate

Here is a house we photographed at Twilight, it is at Kenmore Hills in Brisbane. A twilight photography shoot gives more warmth to the photographs and makes the house look very inviting and warm. It gives an upmarket look and is definately recommended for large upmarket houses and estates, as it does also give a certain opulence and hint of lifestyle. When selling your property, great photographs are important, as even if they attract one more serious buyer to your property you have been successful, as if you can get several buyers interested at one time you are very likely to sell you house at a higher price. Lots of people look for their new dream house on the internet, either early in the morning, at lunch time, on the way home on the train or after dinner. Buyers like to have information at their fingertips as they have less time due to a busier working schedule. if they can get lots of information from your property listing  you will get a more qualified buyer asking about your property. Interactive floor plans are a fabulous way to show your house on line, the enquirer simply clicks the red dot that has been placed on the interactive floor plan, to view a photograph of a certain aspect from a certain direction of the property. These two tools together are imperative when listing your house for sale, as the buyers that come and walk through your property have already qualified themselves as liking what they have already seen online.

Evanescence

Multi award winning band, Evanescence, Amy Lee, Terry Balsamo, Troy McLawhorn, Tim McCord and Will Hunt, kicked Brisbane fans dramatically in the head with their dark rock tunes.

They were supported by electronique act Blaqk Audio, of AFI (A Fire Inside) fame, Davey Havok and Jade Puget. The concert was at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre.

Amy was very energetic in her performance, wowing fans with her high energy stage presence and onstage antics.

The sell out body arted crowd shook the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre and ate up every moment right down to the last encore.

It was a brilliant concert as both acts were in fine form, which is amazing given their hugh busy schedule in Australia.

I think we need to ask that question; is it a nocturnal (at night) existence and do they sleep during the day in suspended animation???

If you can get to a concert, get there, it is more than worth it. The song list is the first of the pix in the gallery.

On a Serious Note … Raaaaant!!!

Considering all the fans that missed out on Evanescence tickets, they could have easily filled the Boodall Entertainment Centre, you really have to question the planning of these things sometimes.

The issue of web robots now buying tickets to concerts casing them to sell out in a few minutes, something needs to be done so fans aren’t ripped off, basically only re-buying tickets at a higher price.

Hopefully soon there will be rules for online scalpers as well; if Ebay did a ban it would work out better for everyone or maybe Ticketek could create tickets with the buyers name to prevent resale of deliberate over purchases.

Ok, not for us to solve, we will leave it to the powers that be, we do need a harder stance.

Switchfoot at The Tivoli Brisbane 24^th of February 2012

Switchfoot were welcomed to Brisbane to a sold out concert at The Tivoli, Brisbane’s premier art-deco concert venues. They played all of their classic anthems as well as some of their lesser-known material. The hoard of fans could not get enough, even after the last encore there were shouts for even more. Switchfoot were exceptional, they really connected with the crowd in their approach to performing, albeit LOUD.

Brisbane Band, Holland, have been and will be opening for Switchfoot at their shows and for their Soundwave gigs. They opened great, kicked the dust out of the amps and got every body going, a great band to warm up with. ‘No Control’ is their debut single on the Sony label, the EP is available at iTunes, yet another band with a great future.

It will be a busy few days for the bands, after last nights performance, they have a set at the Brisbane Soundwave concert 25^th of February, the Sydney Soundwave Concert on the 26^th of February and a Sydney gig on the 27^th of February at The Factory. Followed by side tour dates and Soundwave in Melbourne and Adelaide.

Band Background & Career Highlights

Switchfoot are an alternative spiritual rock band formed in San Diego California by Jon Foreman, Tim Foreman, Chad Butler, Jerome Fontamillas and Drew Shirley. They gained mainstream recognition with the movie “A Walk to Remember”, which included four of their songs in the soundtrack.

They are all mad keen surfers, their name being derived from the surfing term, the boys say, “It’s about change and movement, a different way of approaching life and music”.

Their first major mainstream, double-platinum album, “The Beautiful Let Down” (2003) was launched after their first success; the album sold over 2.7 million copies. Their song, “This is Home”, was featured in the movie The Chronicles of Narnia.
